KEY POINTS:
MELBOURNE - Trainer Jason Warren is hoping for more rain to enhance the chances of Fighting Wrights in today's Silenus Handicap at Sandown but he appears unlikely to get his wish.
After heavy rain on Monday the Hillside track was rated a slow 6 last night, but Sandown track manager Tim Bailey was expecting it to improve today.
Fighting Wrights' five career starts have all been on wet tracks and he has posted two wins over 1500m at Mornington and over 1600m at Ballarat, both in June.
"He's a stayer resuming basically. His work has been good and a bit of moisture would really help," Warren said.
"He is a get back, run on sort of horse and being the last race they will probably be getting out off the fence, so the race pattern should suit him."
A four-year-old by Portland Pirate from the five-time Perth winning mare Jodi's Gamble, Fighting Wrights has drawn wide for the 1300m race in barrier 16 and will be ridden by Craig Newitt today.
