KEY POINTS:
A late entry into the Wellington Cup will be considered for Arthur Pendragon if he measures up in the $100,000 Waikato Gold Cup today.
The winner of just two races was not among original entries for the $300,000 Wellington Cup when they closed on November 14. A $6750 late nomination is available up to January 11 for the 3200m race on January 27.
South Auckland trainer Jakki Good said payment would be likely if the horse lived up to her expectations.
Arthur Pendragon only cleared maidens on September 2 when scoring over 2200m and his second win came at 2400m in a rating 76 event at Ellerslie on October 28.
Good is convinced Arthur Pendragon will be a top stayer. "He's got a bit of class," she said. "The two races he's won, he's done it quite nicely."
Arthur Pendragon was entered for a lesser grade race over 2400m on today's programme but Good said it was decided to take the plunge when the Waikato Gold Cup field came up lacking some depth.
