The chances of Hobart Cup winner Hurdy Gurdy Man improving on that performance when he runs in the Launceston Cup today may be limited.
However, trainer Darren Weir is satisfied a repeat of that effort of two weeks ago will be enough to secure another trophy and a handy bonus.
"He was at his top for the Hobart Cup, I just hope he can hold that level," Weir said on Monday.
"He's got 2kg more, which won't help, but we know he runs the 2400m so we had to come back for another crack."
Any trainer who wins Tasmania's Cups' double receives a $50,000 bonus on top of the $135,000 first prize offered in the group three race.
