Former Racing New South Wales handicapper and more recently Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse's stable manager Mark Webbey has been appointed to undertake a review of handicapping policy.
New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing chairman Guy Sargent said that Webbey would also provide support to chief handicapper Dean Nowell, who will be be losing his assistant Matthew Hall to Country Racing Victoria next month.
David Jewell has been contracted to the position of general manager, racing and operations on an interim basis after the recent announcement of Craig Baker's decision to return to Hawkes Bay.
Jewell is well known as a former general manager of the Manawatu Racing Club. His appointment and that of Webbey are for six-month terms from January 1.
