Racing at Te Rapa yesterday was washed out after three races while miserable weather conditions halted any action at the New Plymouth meeting.
Shamal, Le Bon Fin and Coolibah won the opening hurdle events at the Waikato fixture before time was called on the meeting because of serious visibility issues.
"Safety is paramount and the jockeys were adamant that they couldn't see," general manager Ken Rutherford said.
"As a club we obviously want to race, but it was a clear-cut decision to abandon the meeting."
Torrential rain in Taranaki resulted in an early decision not to proceed with the Listed Waikato Stud Opunake Cup meeting at the Pukekura Raceway because of excessive surface water on the track.
