The historic Wanganui Jockey Club spring meeting on Saturday is in jeopardy with just 88 nominations received by yesterday's deadline.
Racing manager Mike O'Sullivan gained approval for all 10 races to be left open until 9.30am today in the hope of receiving enough nominations to host the super feature meeting.
Four events, the open hurdle, the maiden 1600m and the first two-year-old race of the season attracted just five nominations apiece, while the maiden 1200m received just six.
The two listed events, the Carters-Gib Wanganui Guineas and the Waikato Stud Stakes for fillies, are relatively safe - although not ideal - with eight and nine nominations respectively.
