Racing: Wanganui abandoned

Jockeys' concern about the track caused the abandonment of the last four races, the Wanganui Cup among them, at the Wanganui Jockey Club's meeting on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the club declined to go into details but said "the jockeys wouldn't ride", after drizzle fell.

The jockeys reported a couple of horses slipped after the drizzle began but there were no falls.

No decision had been made about a rescheduling of the cup, the spokesperson said.
