Champion apprentice Michael Walker will be fit to ride in today's Auckland Cup says his employer Taranaki trainer Allan Sharrock.
Walker did not ride at Saturday's Stratford meeting after his mount in the opening event dumped him before the race.
Sharrock said the horse reared and its head hit Walker's head. Walker fell and landed on his head.
Walker was taken to hospital after becoming nauseous but Sharrock said the 16-year-old was found to be okay.
"It was just a check out but everything was okey dokey, so there were no problems," said Sharrock.
Sharrock said yesterday that Walker was feeling better.
"He's good. He's had a round of golf with us today and a couple of games of pool.
"He's as bright as a button and we're all looking forward to tomorrow."
Walker has the mount on pre-post Auckland Cup favourite Smiling Like whom he rode to win the New Zealand Cup (3200m) at Riccarton in November.
Smiling Like provides Walker with an excellent chance of gaining the first group one victory of his career but has another chance when he combines with the Paul O'Sullivan-trained Bawalaksana in the McDonogh Stakes.
