Racing: Waikato features to get boost from new sponsors

Two of Waikato's biggest races are about to get increased local support.

The Waikato Racing Club has secured major new sponsors for two of its feature summer races, with the iconic Waikato Sprint now sponsored by BCD Group for the next three seasons and will be known as the BCD Group Sprint.

BCD Group has flourished since being established in 2010 and is a locally owned and operated company specialising in providing planning, structural, civil and geotechnical engineering consulting services.

Karyn Fenton-Ellis, the chairman of the Waikato Racing Club, was delighted to announce the sponsorship.

"The Group 1 Waikato Sprint is one of the highest rated races in New Zealand every year and boasts a prestigious honour roll," said Fenton-Ellis.

"Nearly every top sprinter of the past two decades has won or competed in this time-honoured event. We are privileged to welcome BCD Group as our new partner."

Warren Storm Lifebrokers was also announced as the new sponsor for the Waikato Guineas - to be known as the Warren Storm Lifebrokers' Waikato Guineas.

Warren Storm Lifebrokers, established in 1976, is a Waikato-based insurance broking firm specialising in personal and business risk protection advice.
