Pentane's hugely disappointing 12th placing in the $1 million group one Kelt Capital Stakes at Hastings on Saturday continues to cause waves in local racing circles.
After the race trainer Lance O'Sullivan made media comments published in New Zealand and Australia relative to Pentane's condition in the days prior to the race.
Subsequently, New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing stipendiary stewards have interviewed O'Sullivan.
After considering the initial evidence of O'Sullivan, stewards have requested a report from the stable veterinary surgeon, given that Pentane had been inspected on Friday, the day before the race.
The matter has now been adjourned.
Following the race rider Chad Ormsby said Pentane appeared to be suffering from a skin rash.
O'Sullivan had been planning to take Pentane to the Melbourne Cup next month but that may now depend on the outcome of the vet's report.
