Transtasman trainer Michael Moroney has stood down his junior training partner Andrew Scott from Matamata's Ballymore Stables.
Scott has relinquished his trainer's licence pending the outcome of an investigation by NZ Thoroughbred Racing into his actions at Te Rapa last weekend over the running of Realign in blinkers without permission in the NZ Bloodstock Classique.
Paul Moroney, the stable's racing manager, is taking over the daily training duties under instruction from his brother and is likely to apply for a trainer's licence and join in a partnership.
The stable has recruited Chris Stewart who was stable foreman at Te Akau for the last three seasons, and former leading jockey Jim Collett has accepted a position assisting.
Michael Moroney stresses this does not mean an end to the highly successful Moroney-Scott training partnership in the long term.
"I have been informed it is probable Andrew will face charges over his actions and I must take steps to protect the integrity of the stable," said Moroney. "Andrew is a talented young man and he will bounce back from this, hopefully within the Ballymore set-up."
