KEY POINTS:
Cambridge trainer Ralph Manning has some in-built insurance for himself in tomorrow's $20,000 Ecolab Excelerate Mile at Ellerslie.
If the track comes up mid-range winter conditions then Magnetism should be suited, but if rain took the surface to heavy Daraldo would be the favoured one of the pair.
Daraldo was beaten favourite at Trentham last week, but the dead track was better than he has produced his best efforts on, even though it was only dead when he won at Ellerslie two starts back.
His best has been on heavy winter footing and he looks like being suited here.
It was on a bit better field than this that Magnetism was narrowly beaten into second last start - the winner that day Kenadaad subsequently won a weight-for-age race at Wanganui.
Former Hong Kong galloper Spin Around has talent and got away with the dead conditions when winning over the same 1600m distance at Ellerslie last start.
They ran the trip in 1.38.13, but they won't be recording anything like that this time and Spin Around might not be as well suited.
One who will be suited is Rat Tat, who, like Daraldo, found the Trentham footing a touch too good for him when beaten favourite last Saturday.
He is a three-time Ellerslie winner and makes appeal in the $20,000 Lindauer Special Reserve Handicap.
Star Of Rio was not suited by the way the race was run at Te Rapa last week and should be a lot tougher to beat this time. It might be the same for his stablemate Tom Tom Cat.
