Chris McNab will not be surprised if the Pukekohe 1100m track record is eclipsed tomorrow.
McNab produces former Australian sprinter Shinzig into the $30,000 Ekraar Trophy, a race full of blinding speed runners.
McNab believes that the fact there are so many on-pace runners engaged makes it a very difficult race to predict.
"It will basically come down to luck," McNab said. "They are going to run it really hard and they could break the track record."
Shinzig was sent over from Sydney for the three-day Hastings spring carnival.
He finished a very good third to Xcellent in the 1400m Mudgway Stakes after sitting outside the leader, Miss Potential.
He had little chance in the 1600m Stoney Bridge after settling back in the pack then was far from disgraced when sixth in the 2040m Kelt Capital after leading around the turn.
McNab said Shinzig has freshened really well in the last month. "He's in terrific order.
"Ideally he will trail on Saturday. He sat back off Dr Green at the trials the other day without overracing."
The interesting runner is Mi Jubilee, having her first start since an abortive Sydney campaign.
Mi Jubilee was outstanding as a juvenile in New Zealand last season, but completely failed to find her best form in Australia, dropping out in her races.
If she can produce her best form she will take some beating here from an inside gate and with only 52kg on her back.
Warmark, Aria, Crepe De Chine, Run Like The Wind and Pin Up Boy will ensure a blistering pace.
