KEY POINTS:
Blair Orange is hoping for some madness in the $200,000 Sires' Stakes Final at Addington tonight.
And he says if it eventuates he could take advantage with Highview Tommy.
Orange will partner the juvenile for bosses Mark Purdon and Grant Payne in the 1950m mobile event, with Purdon to drive the more favoured Sir Clive.
Sir Clive opened a warm favourite with the bookies, even after disgracing himself with a gallop in the Sales Series Pace last Saturday, a race in which Highview Tommy was a strong third.
After drawing widest of the favourites tonight Highview Tommy was rated a $6.50 chance but Orange says the draw could be a bonus.
"I think this could be a race where they go hard," said the reinsman who turned 30 last week.
"With Eric's Legend, Tintin In America, Stunin Cullen and Sir Clive drawn inside us I can see them going hard and the pressure really being on for the first half [800m].
"I'll be easing out at the start and hopefully we can come into the race when the others are slowing up a bit.
"Put it this way, I rate Highview Tommy at least as good as Sir Clive so I can't see why we can't win it."
Sir Clive is the enigma in tonight's group one sprint as he has looked awesome on occasions but has proved costly in his last three starts.
He seems happiest when allowed to work to the front but also lacks the natural gate speed and manners to get there easily.
If he leads tonight he will be hard to catch but his aura has definitely dulled in the last month.
Stunin Cullen could hardly have been more impressive winning his only two starts and would seem a logical favourite tonight.
He has drawn outside some smart horses who could get the drop on him so his task will not be as easy as when he led throughout to win the Sales Series last Saturday.
But he looks to have a degree of X-factor which will take him close to a repeat.
Tintin In America has done little wrong this campaign and has blazing gate speed, so driver David Butcher should be able to lead if he wants and then has all the options available to him.
That makes him a sensible each-way bet alongside Highview Tommy.
High-class youngster Antares will miss tonight's race and possibly even the Harness Jewels after failing to satisfy trainer Gareth Dixon in training yesterday.
"There is nothing seriously wrong with him but he has lightened up on the trip away and still isn't handling the left-handed tracks as well.
"He is too good to risk," Dixon said. "He can miss this race and the Jewels are no doubtful."
