KEY POINTS:
Top jockey Hayden Tinsley is to resume riding next week.
Tinsley, who has taken a winter break of nearly two months, said he planned to return to riding at Foxton next Thursday.
The Manawatu horseman rode at Tuesday's Taupo trials, where his mounts included the former Australian-trained Splashing Out, a contender for the group-one $250,000 weight-for-age Mudgway Stakes (1400m) at Hastings on September 1.
Splashing Out was unplaced in her trial but Tinsley said the O'Reilly 4-year-old mare, owned by Waikato Stud, would be improved by the outing.
* Queensland Racing (QR) stewards yesterday lost their appeal against the quashing of a three-month ban on champion New Zealand jockey Lisa Cropp.
QR chairman of stewards Reid Sanders said he had been informed by the Racing Appeals Tribunal that the appeal had been dismissed. He said he was disappointed but was unlikely to take the matter further.
Cropp was originally outed by stewards for failing to ride runner-up Lilakyn to the line in the Brisbane Cup on June 11.
