Trainer John Phillips will take his biggest team to a race meeting when he saddles up 11 runners at Winton tomorrow.
He said his top five chances were Moody River (race seven), Tropic Star (race 10), Shermar (race five), Connie Brown (race nine) and Inch Strand (race one).
Others racing for the Winton horseman are Arahiwi Prince (race one), Lady In Vain (race two), Crystal Dancer (race five), Close Inspection (race six), Hot Rumours (race seven) and Bell Ace (race eight).
"I'll be depressed if we don't get a placing ... and it can happen," Phillips said.
Moody River and Hot Rumours line up in the $10,000 Winton Cup.
Six-year-old Moody River was narrowly beaten in a $20,000 premier quality race on the first day of the New Zealand Cup meeting at Riccarton on November 11.
It was her second start back from a spell.
"She's a lot fitter now and training good," Phillips said.
Hot Rumours was unplaced at Wingatui on November 5 and needs to show improvement to avoid retirement.
Phillips, Winton Jockey Club vice-president, won the Winton Cup with Jack Daniels in 1997.
