Advanced drew attention to his prospects at Te Teko on Sunday when he worked well at Matamata yesterday, where continuing heavy rain meant fast work was kept to a minimum.
On the course proper, which was soft 25 metres out, Advanced (Dowling) was travelling strongly at the finish of 1200m in 1:24.2 and 600m in 40. He looks in good order for the maiden 1400m event at Te Teko.
Twopaddocks (Rastrick) and Snip (Bridgeman) also shaped well for Te Teko when paired over a solid 1200m in 1:19.5, the final 600m in 40.5. Roaring Jake (M. Brosnan) caught the eye over 1000m in 1:07.2, the last 600 in 39.5, while Waitui Bay (Tynan) took 1:08.4 and 40.6.
Blink (Tynan) and Pinafore (Rastrick) turned in good work for Avondale on Monday when they cut out 1000m in 1:08.8, the last 600 in 39. Another for that meeting, All My Colours (Carmine), and Diamond Striker (Andrew) did well over the same distance in 1:06.8 and 39.4.
Cut The Cake (Coleman), a runner in the Summer Cup at Trentham tomorrow, got through 1200m in 1:26.2, the final 600 in 41. Xcellent (Coleman) was travelling impressively over the final stages of 1200m in 1:28 and 600 in 42.1. He is doing everything right in preparation for his return to racing in the Waikato Draught Sprint. Stablemate Genebel (Coleman) indicated her progress with 1200m in 1:24.9 and 600 in 41.6.
On the sand, which was loose, Te Teko candidate Pennies For Us (M. Brosnan) ran good time with Prized Asset (McKay), clocking 1:03.8 for 1000m and 38.4 for the final 600m.
