Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott grabbed a second Queensland Winter Carnival feature when Prompt Response closed the Group 1 season in Australia with victory in the A$500,000 Tatts Tiara at Doomben on Saturday.
The popular win for the heavily-backed $1 million-plus earner registered the third G1 win for the season for her trainers after the Doomben 10,000 win of English last month and the VRC Oaks victory of Pinot.
It was one up on last year when Prompt Response won the Dane Ripper and then finished second to Tycoon Tara in the Tatt's Tiara.
Ridden by Blake Shinn, Prompt Response ($4 fav) took up a forward role before booting away on the home turn and then holding off Chris Waller's former Kiwi mare Shillelagh, with Caulfield mare Super Cash snaring a second-consecutive G1 placing.
Earlier, the Darren Weir-trained Tradesman failed to add the G3 Tattersall's Cup to his Ipswich Cup of last week when the northern New South Wales galloper Divine Unicorn continued his rise up the rankings to win the A$200,000 race.
