KEY POINTS:
Ann Herbert will know tomorrow night whether Tatlock will next be racing for $200,000 or less than 20 per cent of that figure.
The Cambridge trainer wants to see a $200,000 Telegraph Handicap trial from the talented Tatlock in tomorrow's $20,000 Woodstock Bourbon Sprint at Thames.
Tatlock missed out on a start in the $200,000 Waiwera Infinity Railway Handicap at Ellerslie on Monday when placed on the emergency list.
Herbert says she will be convinced Tatlock is up to the strength of the Telegraph only if he wins very stylishly tomorrow.
"The Telegraph field looks like being red hot," she said.
"He'll have to win very impressive at Thames and pull up exceptionally well to justify running in the big race.
"If we don't go to the Telegraph there's a Rating 92 1200m race on the last day at Trentham."
Last start Tatlock finished seventh, 3.75 lengths from Kay's Awake when inconvenienced by drawing the outside gate of the 13 runners.
It was a long way from the worst run in the race.
This time he has drawn considerably better at No 6.
"He's bounced through that race really well."
Matt Cameron has landed the ride.
"I was looking at Lisa [Cropp] or Reese Jones, but both are suspended."
Pinsoir is a definite starter after having to be late scratched at Ellerslie when injured in the starting gates.
The horse in the adjacent stall stood on his neck when he got his head down trying to get under the front of the gate.
"I thought it might have affected him, but he's fine now," said trainer Paul Duncan.
"A chiropractor went right over him this week and couldn't find anything. "He galloped well this morning [Thursday] and he'll start, even though he's drawn bad."
Volscar finished third in a strong R92 race at Ellerslie over the carnival and gets his chance here with a 4kg claim by Samantha Collett.
