Local trainer Donna Logan dominated the last Ruakaka meeting, winning four races and she is set up for another carpet ride today.
The biggest news of the four winners a couple of weeks ago was debut maiden victor Hasselhoof, who should make it two from two in Race 10. Hasselhoof knows nothing about racing yet, but he was still good enough to get the money at his first attempt. The opposition is better this time, but he is loaded with talent and should pull punters through again.
The stablemate he beat at his first start, Silencer (No6, R3), beat the rest of the field even more easily and he should get his turn today.
Race 2, for the 2-year-olds, is tricky as a punting race, but Avondale winner Sheradream (No6, R2) should be hard to hold out again from an ideal barrier. She is not big, but is as tough as they come and the filly she beat at Avondale, Serious Satire, looks likely to eventually take a high rating. Vicar's Daughter (No10) comes in fresh and should be competitive.
Outside of Hasselhoof, the easiest Ruakaka winner last meeting was Makarska (No2, R4). She remains in the same grade today and with Brendan Hutton taking 2kg off her 58kg, she comes in fairly well with 56kg, only 1kg more than she won with last start. The No 3 barrier should be an assist.
