Matamata trainer Andrew Scott is pinning his hopes on a gear adjustment helping Walk In The Park return to form in the Parramatta Cup at Rosehill today.
An eye-catching third to Apollo Stakes hopeful Purple in the Queensland Oaks last winter, Walk In The Park has failed to fire in five runs this campaign.
The past two of those have been in Sydney and while Scott says the mare has had some excuses, he is the first to admit she has been disappointing.
"We went over there on a wing and a prayer, really," Scott said on Thursday. "When we left, her form wasn't 100 per cent but we were hoping she was on the way up.
"I've taken the tongue tie off her this week and I'm hoping that might work."
Walk In The Park made her Sydney debut with an eighth to Rabbuka in the Frank Underwood Cup (2000m) at Rosehill on January 16, when she settled midfield and battled to the line.
She led at her next run on a heavy track and tired in the run home to finish seventh to Hawk Island.
Scott had entered her for a race on Tuesday but when that was washed out, he decided to give her another shot at stakes company.
Walk In The Park has been stabled at Rosehill during her Sydney stay and Scott can't fault her trackwork.
He said it was comparable to when she was racing well in Brisbane but she had not been transferring it to raceday form.
Scott will not be trackside at Rosehill as he has a busy afternoon at Ellerslie today with five runners.
They will be headed by promising 3-year-old Corporal Jones, who will have his final lead-up run to next month's New Zealand Derby.
