The Dunstan Stayers series is wonderful. Good horses go into it and even better ones come out.
Green Supreme is one of those. He went to Hong Kong as a promising horse, didn't settle in and Matamata's Graham Richardson has done a magnificent job on him since his return.
They will have to work hard to keep him out in the $75,000 Dunstan Feeds Championship Final, Race 4, tomorrow. Don't leave Pero out of multiple bets. Also for multiples, Despereaux is a little underrated.
Atomic Force (No 1, R8) looks an absolute special in the Railway. What can beat him? Probably only Guiseppina (No 9) if the track is reasonable.
Run multiple bets through Green Supreme and Atomic Force.
Also through Silent Achiever (No 9, R5), provided the track is not too bad. This filly is the goods and by running in the $100,000 Championship Stakes, she might prove the fillies are at least the equal of the male 3-year-olds. Perhaps even better. Shuka (No 1) went a fabulous race on Boxing Day after being left three wide without cover. He can greatly improve on that fourth even though his No 10 barrier is not ideal. Throw It Has To Be You (No 3) in the trifectas.
There was nothing between Brave Ali (No 1, R1) and Grande Bellezza (No 11) when they met at Te Rapa last start. Brave Ali just got that one, but the 1kg swing in favour of Grande Belleza this time might see a different result. With a barrier draw inside Brave Ali this time she is well placed for James McDonald.
Villifye (No 6, R2) couldn't grab Savour The Moment last start, but does not have one of that horse's class to beat this time. She has drawn out a fraction, which won't help, but a typical patient ride from Vinnie Colgan will see her go close again.
Irish Rebel (No3, R3) made a very big impression winning on debut at Manawatu last start, completely leaving behind Choice Bro, who won here at Ellerslie on Wednesday. He looks the goods, but making the race interesting is that he's drawn the outside barrier of the nine runners. That won't allow him a lot of latitude to down Silk Pins (No 9), who won on debut then was a good thing beaten when second to Travino at Pukekohe. Everyone has been waiting for the Zabeel filly Zurella (No 3, R6) to jump up to 2000m. It happens here and after her dominating win in the Eulogy Stakes over 1600m she looks a magnificent prospect here. She won't get it all her own way though with 1000 Guineas winner and Eight Carat Classic victor Planet Rock to face. Another intriguing clash.
The Rich Hill Mile is a punters' nightmare. Don't discard Savour The Moment (No 19, R7) if he gets in off the ballot. He's a young, improving, horse and has no weight. For value don't overlook Our Ella Belle (No 13). Hard race.
So is the $100,000 City Of Auckland Cup. If the track comes up rain-affected to any degree, Sum Up is one of the runners who will not be affected. Fazza (No 4), Postman's Daughter (No 2) and Jeu de Cartes (No 12) are chances. The blinkers go on Bazinsky (No 1, R10) and being a Zabeel, that's always a tip. His form is good and so is that of Jungle Knight (No 2).
