So You Think has cemented his superstar status by scoring back-to-back Group One Cox Plate victories
The Bart Cummings-trained 4-year-old is the first to win Australasia's weight-for-age championship as a 3-year-old and repeat the dose a year later.
Steven Arnold gave So You Think the run of the race behind the leader More Joyous until approaching the home turn in the $3 million 2040m feature at Moonee Valley yesterday.
When he gave the entire full rein around the corner So You Think dashed well clear and put the race beyond doubt.
Grand old stager Zipping ran home strongly for second, his third placing in the race, and Whobegotyou was third.
New Zealander Wall Street never looked likely and finished 7th of the 10 runners.
"He's getting up there with them," Cummings said when asked to compare So You Think with his countless champions of the past.
"You've seen it today.
"He's won everything we've trained him for this time. "You can't do any more than that."
Arnold is now undefeated in three starts on the son of High Chaparral and said he was "relieved" to have got the odds-on favourite home.
"Super horse," he said. "It's an unbelievable thrill.
"I think there's more to come from him ... quite freakish."
It was only So You Think's 10th start and his record stands at seven wins and two seconds for prizemoney of more than $4.4 million.
Melbourne Cup hopeful Shoot Out ran a satisfactory trial for the two mile classic, grinding home for fourth.
The Cummings-trained Precedence is still not assured of a Melbourne Cup start despite being penalised for winning the Group Two Moonee Valley Cup.
A 1.5kg penalty for Precedence has moved him from 39th to 29th in order of entry for the 24-horse Cup field.
Ridden by Blake Shinn, the favourite was perfectly placed in fifth spot before kicking clear on the home turn and holding out imported stayer Above Average by three-quarters of a length with former New Zealander and topweight Capecover 2-1/4 lengths away third.
