One Over Kenny is likely to miss all the spring trotting features.
The millionaire mare has a quarter crack.
She would have been favourite for next month's Dominion Handicap at Addington.
She is now on a December collision course with her nemesis Stig. One Over Kenny's timing could hardly have been worse.
The millionaire mare is set to miss her chance at a lucrative domination of the spring trotting features because of a quarter crack in her hoof.
That has forced trainer Tony Herlihy to cancel her delayed return to racing at Alexandra Park this Friday and could keep her away from the track until close to Christmas.
And Herlihy knows that couldn't have come at a worse time because, with arch-rival Stig sidelined, One Over Kenny appeared to have the $250,000 Dominion Handicap at Addington next month at her mercy.
"I know, don't remind me," he says of missing the chance to race for huge money without the Stig stumbling block.
One Over Kenny had been flying at the workouts last month but developed a hoof abscess the day before she was expected to return to the races at Alexandra Park on September 25.
It has since worsened and become a quarter crack, which could take a few weeks to grow out.
That means she is unlikely to be able to compete in enough lead-up races to have the lungs for the Dominion, especially as it has been brought forward a week to Show Day, November 13, this year.
One Over Kenny actually attempted to win the Dominion two years ago without a lead-up race because of a quarter crack but was found wanting and missed the great race last season after poor winter health.
But missing it next month is a double blow because when One Over Kenny does make it back to the track Stig is likely to be stalking her again.
The pair met only twice last season and Stig crushed her on both occasions, which suggests he is more of a freak than it detracting from her.
Stig suffered a minor bone crack in a leg last season but has completed six weeks of jogging with owner Tim Butt and has now returned to trainer Paul Nairn.
"He came back last Thursday and looks great," said Nairn.
"There is no way we will make the Dominion with him so I am aiming him at the Christmas meeting at Alexandra Park," said Nairn.
He loved it up there last time and so do I, so we can't wait to get back."
Stig, like One Over Kenny, could head to the Interdominions in Victoria in February, which would give New Zealand its strongest Interdom trotting assault on Australian soil in a decade.
Meanwhile, the north's leading New Zealand Cup hopes will all contest the Kumeu Founders Cup at Alexandra Park on Friday.
Defending Cup champion Changeover will meet fellow cup nominees and stablemates Awesome Armbro and All Tiger, along with the Barry Purdon-Scott Phelan pair of Power Of Tara and Pembrook Benny over 2700m.
