Steven Reid says his best filly may not be his best chance of winning tonight's $175,000 Sales Series Pace at Alexandra Park.
Reid and training partner Graeme Rogerson train both Sixpence (barrier one) and Flying Pocketlands (second line) in the 1700m feature and Reid believes the latter may now be the better of the pair.
While Flying Pocketlands beat Sixpence in the Caduceus Club Classic last start, there was very little in it and you could argue Sixpence's performance was superior.
But Reid believes Flying Pocketlands has developed more since that outing three weeks ago.
"We worked them at Cambridge [on Tuesday] and Flying Pocketlands had the better of Sixpence by half a length. I think maybe she is getting stronger, but with the draws I still think Sixpence is the one to beat."
Reid will drive Sixpence himself and says with the chance to lead throughout she deserves favouritism.
"We all know what 1700m races are like at the park and I think we will be in front so the other filly may need to be three or four lengths better to beat us, and I don't think she is."
Ima Gold Digger should win tonight's other age group feature, the Sires' Stakes Trot, if he handles the right-handed track, while Tony Herlihy could train and drive two other winners, One Over Kenny (race six) and Ohoka Dallas (race eight).
Racing: Stablemate danger to Sixpence, says Reid
