A busy five weeks of campaigning horses throughout New Zealand began successfully for Hec and Steve Anderton at Wyndham on Saturday.
The Otago father and son trainers had two runners at Wyndham for wins in the Wyndham Cup (Lydgina) and the Mainland Minerals 1200 (Sand Sweeper).
Steve Anderton travelled north yesterday with Wellington Cup hopeful Heureka. She lines up in Saturday's group one $250,000 event after winning the Waikouaiti Cup.
Stable star The Jewel is to start in the group one $100,000 International Stakes at Te Rapa on February 12. The same day the Andertons intend starting Lydgina in the $30,000 Dunedin Cup at Wingatui.
On February 26, they will be represented at the Invercargill Gold Cup meeting at Ascot Park.
Lydgina is attempting to become the seventh to win the Wyndham-Dunedin Cups double.
The seven-year-old mare yesterday provided 37-year-old jockey Terry Moseley, of Christchurch, with his third Wyndham Cup win. It was the first Wyndham Cup win for the Andertons.
Their apprentice Jarrod Todd resumes riding at Riccarton on Saturday after breaking a collar bone in trackwork last month. He is to ride Lydgina in the Dunedin Cup.
Moseley said he had no worries with Lydgina in the Wyndham Cup.
Sand Sweeper moved the Andertons' training tally for the season to 14 wins in the Mainland Minerals 1200.
