BRISBANE - Sydney trainer Peter Snowden is keeping an open mind about Beaded's future after the group one Winter Stakes at Eagle Farm.
Beaded's performance in tomorrow's 1400m feature will decide whether she heads to the breeding barn or goes to the spelling paddock for a short break ahead of a possible Melbourne campaign.
"I'm not sure what is happening. We'll get through Saturday first but I've got an open mind what to do with her," Snowden said on Wednesday.
"We've got a few options. She could be retired but there's every chance she'll come back into work for another campaign aimed towards the back end of the Melbourne carnival in spring.
"After that she'd get ready for the Sydney autumn."
Snowden was thrilled with Beaded's last-start performance off the near outside barrier when she finished fourth, less than half a length from the winner Black Piranha in the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm on June 12.
It was the first time Beaded had finished out of a placing in her 14-start career, which has produced eight wins.
"She did a great job in the Stradbroke. She bit the bullet and did the job at both ends," Snowden said.
"Her effort was fantastic considering the second and third horses had soft runs. She was caught three wide from the alley and only went down a few inches."
Beaded showed she was a genuine group one performer with her All-Aged Stakes placing behind Hot Danish and Melito at Randwick.
Kiwi mare Wealth Princess will be having her last start for trainer Brent Gillovic before she is transferred to Lee Freedman in Melbourne.
Gillovic has trained Wealth Princess for all of her 10 starts, which have netted six wins and three placings, and is hoping for a fairytale farewell with her first group one victory.
"Wealth Princess is probably the one I'm most worried about," Snowden said. "She hasn't had many starts this campaign while some of the others like Melito and Set For Fame have come through autumn carnivals in Sydney."
