BRISBANE - Queensland trainer John Wallace is confident boom 3-year old Shoot Out will handle the Melbourne tracks as he prepares for a tilt at the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup.
Wallace will bring Shoot Out to Melbourne in two weeks, with the A$100,000 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield on July 31 the horse's first Victorian start.
"I'm pretty confident the horse will handle the Victorian way of going," said Wallace. "Since he's been back at the stables, I work him the Victorian way about three times a week and he seems good as gold. But you never know until they're under race pressure."
Wallace, who said connections had rejected huge offers for the gelding, will be based at Flemington. "He's really come back in great shape.
"He's put on condition and he's furnished into a horse that is ready to tackle the spring."
