It took just 200m of a Warwick Farm trial for jockey Hugh Bowman to reaffirm his Doncaster Mile confidence in three-time group one winner Shoot Out, who was unplaced in his 800m heat yesterday.
However, he produced an impressive final furlong sprint that confirmed he is right on target for Saturday week's A$2 million race at Randwick.
"I wouldn't want to be swapping him for any other ride in the race," Bowman said after Shoot Out finished fourth to the speedster Didntcostalot.
"I think the Doncaster suits him," he said. "It's a mile at Randwick and his record there is brilliant."
Shoot Out's Randwick wins include the Randwick Guineas and the Australian Derby. He will be one of four runners Chris Waller will start in the Doncaster, alongside Albert The Fat, Danleigh and Metal Bender.
