Five-time group one winner Shoot Out has run his final race and will spend his retirement on the Queensland property of his owners Graeme and Linda Huddy.
Trainer Chris Waller made the announcement two days after Shoot Out finished last of the nine runners in the George Main Stakes.
"We've decided to retire him after obviously a very, very successful career and we think it's only right to send the horse to the paddock and for his future life as a very sound horse and obviously be remembered as a very successful horse."
The 7-year-old earned more than A$3.2 million during a 37-start career and was a favourite with racegoers for his determined finishing sprints.
"There were so many notable achievements," Waller said, "and he'll certainly be missed but certainly not forgotten."
