Allan Sharrock has one piece of unfinished business with Waikato Stud's record-breaking performer I Do before she joins the Matamata farm's elite band of broodmares.
The Taranaki trainer, who co-bred and races the daughter of No Excuse Needed with the Chittick family, is keen for one more crack at a top-flight race before time is called on the rising seven-year-old's racing career.
"I'd love to have another go at a group one with her," Sharrock said. "I think she's a group two mare, but on an unseasonal track in a race like the Captain Cook she would be competitive."
I Do, who has a date with one of Waikato Stud's stallions in the spring, added a special win to her CV on Saturday in the Listed Team Wealleans Tauranga Classic. It was the 13th of her career and the most ever collected by a Waikato Stud-raced horse.
"Lady Aloof held the record with 12 and obviously they've had better mares go to stud, but it's nice to break it," Sharrock said.
