Senorita Ivory relished the wet conditions at Pukekohe yesterday in her final gallop for her engagement on the course tomorrow.
Working on the all-weather sand - rain fell through most of the session - Senorita Ivory (Spratt) galloped 1200m in 1:15.7, the last 1000 in 1:3.2 and 600 in 37.4. If she ran up to that effort tomorrow she would win.
Alszaat (Sargent) showed a surprising turn of foot to finish clear of an unnamed Volksraad gelding (Bradley) over 600m in a slick 36.1.
Baileys Comet (Spratt) looked ready for a bold first-up race when finishing 1000m in 1:3, the final 600 in 37. He will not mind further rain.
Towzee (N. Collett) was given a quiet 600m in 42.2, the last 400 in 27.1.
Mandela (Spratt) worked brilliantly to shade Ala Moana (Yuill) in the end of 1000m in 1:1, the last 600 in 36.4.
Jaca Rema (Poulson) did not look entirely happy in the conditions when running 800m in 53.4, the closing 600 in 39.6.
On the inside of soft No 1 grass, Kazarokin (Y. Faulkner) covered 1000m in 1:8.7, the last 600 in 40.5.
He has ability on rain-affected footing.
* Stablemates Overkaast and Pocolito looked in excellent order for their weekend assignments when working at Cambridge yesterday. The No 2 grass provided dead footing.
Overkaast (L. Satherley) and Pocolito (Norvall) strode 1200m comfortably in 1:21.8, the final 600m in 40.4. Pocolito, an unlucky runner last start, races at Pukekohe while Overkaast heads to Awapuni for the group three Manawatu Classic.
Last-start winner Willy Ryan (Walsh) left 1200m behind in 1:23.7, quickening over the final 600m in 38. Andari Dancer (Houston) looked fit for Pukekohe when galloping a solid 1200m in 1:16, finishing off in 37. Whiskey Creek (Whale) worked in from the 1000m in 1:8, the final 600m in 38.4. Kapai (Walsh) and Ambitious Mascot ( D. Satherley) matched strides over 1000m in 1:4, covering the final section in 38.1. Fascinator (Cameron) and Silk Domaine (Veronica) came to the end of 1200m in 1:15.9, finishing off in 38.6.
Galloping on the No l grass Mango Tree (Cheshire) ran a comfortable 1000m in 1:12, the last 600m in 40.2.
Gaze (Du Plessis) ran the last 600m of a 1200 metres workout in 37.4.
Galloping on the sand Del Toro (Callaway) was given an easy task over 600m in 44. Who's Asking (Collins) ran 600m in 43 and Marakesh (Manten) worked with Zorro (Callaway) over 800m in 53.
