Spring plans are up in the air for Cups and Cox Plate fancy Sea Moon after the expensive import suffered a barrier mishap at Flemington on Saturday, reports the Herald-Sun.
Leviathan owner Lloyd Williams informed Racing Victoria stewards on Sunday that the A$3 million horse had "pulled up sore and will be monitored for the next couple of days".
Sea Moon, the $4 second favourite on his Australian debut in the Makybe Diva Stakes, knuckled at the start of the 1600m race, his legs sprawling wildly in all directions.
Williams' son Nick said the good news was that vets believed the soreness is muscular, not structural.
"We will monitor him for the next three or four days to make sure all is well, and go from there one way or the other."
