KEY POINTS:
Transtasman trainer Graeme Rogerson is cutting back on his Sydney stable as he prepares for life back in New Zealand.
Rogerson said his Australian stable would be at least half its present size by later this year and that he was likely to be living in New Zealand, though plotting hit-and-run raids on the big Australian races.
"It is time I did it," he said. "I love the racing here [NZ] and now I am in the trotting game too and I am really enjoying that. And I've got to slow down a bit."
Rogerson, 60, is a multiple premiership winner in New Zealand and one of Sydney's most prominent trainers.
From humble beginnings he rose to become the leading trainer in New Zealand and the first to train more than 100 winners in a season.
He was the leading Randwick trainer one season and has made a big impact in Melbourne too where he trains for millionaire Lloyd Williams.
Rogerson trained Efficient to win the Victoria Derby this season.
He has also made his mark in the trading business, being one of the most prominent buyers at major Australasian sales for the past decade.
