Arlingtonboulevard confirmed her fitness for the Captain Cook Stakes with an impressive workout at Matamata yesterday.
Galloping 16 metres out on a slow course proper, Arlingtonboulevard (Sapsworth) covered 1200m in 1:23, the last 1000m in 1:06.8 and 600m in 37.8. She hit the line full of running and is obviously in good order for tomorrow's group one feature.
Jokers Wild was another to underline his weekend prospects when, with regular rider Michael Coleman in the saddle, he cut out 1200m in 1:18.8, 1000m in 1:03.8 and the final 600m in 36.9. It was another outstanding gallop from the colt who dominates the Wellington Guineas as he looks for his sixth consecutive win.
Stablemate Pinprick (J. Collett) completed his preparation for Ellerslie with a sound gallop over 1200m in 1:20.2, 1000m in 1:04.6 and 600m in 37.2. Seventh Heaven (Dowling) got through her work well when recording 1:21.5 for 1200m and 38.2 for the final 600m.
Over the same distance Klassic Singer (K. Jones) took 1:19.6 and 38.9, while The Shoe (Coleman) clocked 1:23.6 and 39.9, and Sweet Caroline (J. Collett) 1:24.2 and 38.
On the all-weather track Taalisman (Gillies) was travelling well at the end of 1000m in 1:06.2, the final 600m in 38.5.
He is in good order for a return to his favourite track, Hastings, on the weekend.
Thousand Veils (J. Collett) was unextended over 1000m in 1:07.6, the last 600m in 38.8., while Colombia Striker (Grayson) ran the same trip in 1:07.4 and 39.5. Captain Cook Stakes candidate Dezigna (Hillis) looked happy in his work as he stretched out up the straight without being timed.
On the sand Bellevue Lass (Dowling) looked in forward order to resume at Ellerslie when she ran a smart 1200m in 1:17.6 and 600m in 37.8. Maroofity (Sapsworth) was another weekend runner to catch the eye as he cut out 1200m in 1:18.7 and 600m in 36.6.
Wellington Guineas runner Sands Of Time (Ritchie) ran the last 600m of his work in 37.5. Stablemates to do similar work were Virginie (Allen) in 40.3, Veil (M Carston) 40.8, Overflo (R. Jones) 39.8 and Judgement Day (M Carston) 37.2.
Mon Reve (McKay) completed his Wellington Guineas preparation with 1000m in 1:03.2, the last 600m in 37.2.
Veloce Bella (M Brosnan) covered 1000m in 1:07.4 and 600m in 39.2. She is the class runner in the maiden sprint at Ellerslie.
* Stripped completed his fast work for Ellerslie tomorrow most satisfactorily at Pukekohe yesterday.
Using the all-weather sand, Stripped (Yuill) strode 1200m in 1:20.9, the last 600 strongly in 37.7.
Stablemate Needuask (Yuill) was allowed a very easy 1000m, taking 1:12, the last 600 in 41.7. Both should represent the Richard Yuill stable with distinction tomorrow.
Alszaat (Sargent) ran 800m in 53.3, the final 600 in 39.3. Donotdisturb (Rolston) went 1200m in 1:27.2, quickening a little for the closing 600 in 40.5.
Sila Jasak (Cameron) did a quiet 800m with Sigita (Weston-Arnold), the last 600 in 43. Waikeepadacash (Yetton) was revelling in his work finishing 1000m in 1:4, the last 600 in 38.2. Howaboutme (Bradley) and Iced Diamonds galloped 1200m, timed for the last 1000 in 1:3.3 and 600 in 37.3.
