SYDNEY - The owners of Australia's Miss Andretti have reportedly turned down a "mind-blowing" offer to sell the mare following her record-breaking win at this week's Royal Ascot meeting in England.
Miss Andretti slashed more than 2s off the Ascot track record to win Tuesday's King's Stand Stakes, leaving some of the world's best sprinters in her wake.
Australian media yesterday reported Miss Andretti's owners were offered A$10 million ($11.23 million) from stud farms in the United States and Europe, but would not sell her.
Miss Andretti's senior part-owner Sean Buckley told Australian radio: "I've had a few offers ... some very big offers, substantial offers.
"I won't say how much, mind-blowing, mind-blowing. To be honest with you, she is like a bit of the family now ... at the end of the day she means everything to me, this horse, and I love her.
"Why should I want to trade an excitement machine like this for someone else to have the excitement?"
Australian newspapers said Miss Andretti would be worth millions as a broodmare when she retires but the owners have no plans to send her to the breeding barn just yet.
She has won the first three legs of this year's Global Sprint Challenge and is the early favourite for Sunday morning's (NZT) Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
