KEY POINTS:
BRISBANE- Lloyd Williams expects advertising guru John Singleton, his fellow owner in Magic Millions Trophy favourite Publishing, to keep with tradition by shouting the public bar for Gold Coast patrons if the colt wins the A$1 million ($1.13 million) 3-year-old feature today.
Publishing replaced Australia's best sprinting filly, Gold Edition, at the head of Magic Millions Trophy markets after the Toowoomba-trained filly failed to break through for her first win past 1200m when second to Sequential Charm in the Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) at Doomben last start.
Williams will once again shun the limelight on Magic Millions day and will be represented by his son Nick, but not so Singleton who never misses the famous race day or a marketing opportunity.
"I prefer to stay away these days but it'll be a good thing if Publishing wins," Williams said.
"Singo will be there and everyone will be drinking Bondi Blonde from the bar if he wins."
Publishing is the product of the 1999 Magic Millions Classic quinella, Testa Rossa and Sally Magic, and cost A$250,000 at last year's sale.
Melbourne jockey Eddie Cassar, who rode Testa Rossa in his Magic Millions triumph, is now employed as a track rider by Williams.
The Graeme Rogerson-trained Publishing will also enhance his prospects as a stud proposition if successful in the Trophy.
"He's a nicely-bred horse and it would be good for his stud prospects if he can win," Williams said.
Publishing has won four of his eight starts, including his last three in succession in Melbourne.
