Our Kitty prepared for racing at Te Aroha on Saturday with a stylish workout at Matamata yesterday morning.
Galloping 18m on a soft course proper, Our Kitty (Rastrick) covered 1000m in 1:05, the last 600m in 40.7. She was travelling well at the finish, leaving no doubts that she has gone on the right way since winning at Ellerslie last month.
Shola (Rastrick), a likely improver for Te Aroha, worked well with William Tell (Tynan) over 1200m in 1:22.4, the 600m in 39.8.
Veil (L. Innes), who is heading to Hawkes Bay next week, and Youre In Danger (Ritchie) took time honours on the course proper with 1000m in 1:05.4 and 600 in 37.6.
On the all-weather track Boulevardofdreams (Walker) and The Cut (L Innes) shaped up for the weekend with a solid 1200m in 1:17.6, the last 600m in 38.5.
Envoy (Wratten) turned in good work when running his last 1000m in 1:05.7, the 600 in 38.2. Maloney (Gillies) worked from the 1000m in 1:08.5, the last 600 in 39.6.
Devoted (Cheshire) ran 800m in 59.6 and the last 600 in 44.8. Stablemate Vaalu (B Lammas) did the same sort of work when clocking 44.6 for his last 600m. Both smart gallopers are coming to hand well for Jim Gibbs.
* Balinova galloped in her best style at Takanini yesterday.
Working 10m out on a soft No 1 grass, Balinova completed 1000m in 1:5, the last 600 in 38.9. She has mixed her efforts lately but has the ability to win another race or two.
Klingon worked away from the 1400m and ran his last 1000 in 1:5.6 and 600 in 39.9. He will not be in maiden class much longer.
Santa Margherita galloped keenly through 1600m, the last 1200 in 1:20.7 and 600 in 40.5.
