Star 3-year-old Carrara is a chance to take on the older horses at weight-for-age in next month's Group One Orr Stakes in Melbourne.
Trainer Tony Vasil said he would decide after a jump out today whether the Caulfield Guineas runner-up would resume in the Listed Zeditave Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on January 26 on the way to the Orr (1400m), also at Caulfield, on February 6.
"If he pleases me in his trial and pulls up indicating he is sufficiently forward enough, we will run him in the Zeditave," Vasil said. "He has spelled well and looks terrific and it would be a nice kick-off for him."
Vasil said the Orr was a good option for Carrara who had a win and two placings from three starts at 1400m.
He won the Listed Henry Bucks Stakes at Flemington, ran second in the Listed Bicentennial Stakes in Brisbane and finished third in the Group Two QTC Sires' Produce Stakes.
Three-year-olds won the Orr Stakes six years in a row from 1998 to 2003 but haven't won the race since.
