Champion jockey Damien Oliver has sewn up another plum spring ride with trainer Mark Kavanagh announcing he will be on the favourite Whobegotyou in the A$3 million ($3.7 million) Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 24.
Kavanagh said on the TVN show Two Cups and A Plate that Oliver would ride Whobegotyou while Michael Rodd would be aboard reigning Cox Plate champion Maldivian.
Rodd has been the regular rider of both horses throughout their careers and won the Caulfield Guineas on Whobegotyou last spring.
But Oliver was aboard the 4-year-old son of Street Cry when he broke a run of eight defeats with an impressive victory in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 12.
Oliver has also been booked to ride the Cumani-trained Basaltico in the Group Three Geelong Cup (2400m) on October 21. He has no Melbourne Cup booking at this stage.
