KEY POINTS:
The Oaks Stud has made an offer to purchase as many as possible of the 40 shares in Darci Brahma.
The offer comes on the heels of Darci Brahma's dramatic group one Telegraph Handicap win at Trentham last Saturday.
The Oaks, at Cambridge, is already one of the 10 major shareholders in the valuable stallion.
"We've put an offer out there to pick up any of the shares that might want to be sold in advance of the yearling sales," said The Oaks' general manager Rick Williams. "To be fair, it doesn't appear there are many that are interested and that's great."
Williams said The Oaks has put a reasonably loose deadline of tonight on the offer.
When Darci Brahma was syndicated for $1.1 million as a yearling, a pre-emptive agreement was written into the contract that any offers from outside for the horse had first to be offered to the syndicate members.
"What we felt in making the offer now was that some of those who put their $100,000 or so in at the start, might like to quit a few of the shares and start it all over again at the sales next week.
"We thought some might want to sell two or there shares and keep one for breeding.
"Everyone went into this with the idea of staying in to stand him at stud and it looks as though most are still thinking the same way, which is wonderful."
Williams said commercial sensitivity precluded The Oaks from revealing the size of the offer.
