KEY POINTS:
BRISBANE - New Zealand-trained J'Adane finally broke her status as one of the best maiden fillies in Australasia with victory at Eagle Farm yesterday.
The Danehill filly, bred by the Vela brothers Peter and Philip, who raced Melbourne Cup winner Ethereal, sat three wide in a 1200m maiden but went on to score by half a length as a $1.40 favourite on the Queensland TAB.
Trained in South Auckland by Russell Cameron, J'Adane was on her 10th start, and her first run since finishing 10th on a wet track in the group one Levin Classic (1600m) at Otaki in November.
She has raced in top company for most of her career and in Melbourne last year was sixth to Miss Finland in the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield in October and second to Tuesday Joy in the Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.
Cameron said J'Adane would not be ready for next month's Queensland Oaks.
The group two Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 11 and the group one Winter Stakes (1400m) on the same track on June 23 loom as two likely targets.
Meanwhile, Cameron has entered promising sprinter Sam Samir in a class six 1200m event at Doomben on Saturday.
By Elnadim, Sam Samir won his debut by seven lengths at Avondale in December and has won two of his three career starts.
