New South Wales mare Tibetan Lass will be on trial for the feature mares races at Addington when she races in the Graham Goffin Memorial at Moonee Valley on Saturday night.
The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club has confirmed that co-owner and trainer Ian Wilson intends bringing the mare to New Zealand next Tuesday.
But the six-year-old daughter of former top pacer Tibet will again need to race up to expectations at Moonee Valley to clinch the trip.
She will be flown to Auckland, then floated to Christchurch.
Her target races are the $25,000 Pyne Gould Guinness Premier Mares Championship at Addington on January 27, and the group one $100,000 New Zealand Standardbred Breeders Stakes on February 4.
Wilson has arranged through top Sydney trainer Brian Hancock to have Tibetan Lass stay at Mark Purdon's All Star Stables at Yaldhurst.
Tibetan Lass was a game last-start second at Harold Park last Friday behind the Hancock-trained Petousa in a 1:58 rate over the 2160m.
Back in November, Tibetan Lass was the runner-up in Sydney's feature mares' sprint, the A$100,000 ($110,411) Ladyship Mile at Harold Park.
Tibetan Lass chased home Sand Pebbles, which a week later ran second to Sokyola in the A$600,000 Miracle Mile.
Sand Pebbles rated 1:57.2 for the 1760m in the Ladyship Mile, beating Tibetan Lass by three metres, the winner running her last 800m in 56.3 and last 400m in 27.6s.
She has raced 41 times for 14 wins, 11 placings and the equivalent of $130,407 in stakes. Her record this season is seven starts for four wins and two seconds.
