Racing: No Looking Back has feature in her sights

A chance to avenge her Magic Millions relegation last year has become reality for No Looking Back after her win over older horses at Rosehill.

In her first start since her Golden Slipper failure, the Gai Waterhouse-trained filly surged between Zaratone on her inside and Skytrain to win the Listed Carrington Stakes (1100m) yesterday.

The margin was a short half-head to Zaratone with Skytrain a nose third.

No Looking Back was first across the line in the 2012 Magic Millions Classic only to lose the race on protest to her stablemate Driefontein, who she will oppose again in the A$1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday week.

"Hopefully, we can make amends this year," owner Nick Vass said.

"She is a wonderful filly and has only turned the corner in the last 10 days. The Golden Slipper took a bit out of her so Gai backed off her."

Waterhouse gave No Looking Back three barrier trials leading into her New Year's Day assignment and said she was ready to take on Driefontein and Queensland star Sizzling.

"They were good horses she beat today in a race where I think she was poorly weighted," Waterhouse said.

"We're off to the Magic Millions."

Tommy Berry rode No Looking Back yesterday but is also the regular partner of Driefontein.

With fellow stable rider Nash Rawiller on the injured list, Berry is not about to choose between the two.

"I imagine I will be sticking with Driefontein but I don't want to choose," he said.

"I don't want to have any input and I will leave it to Gai."

Berry was impressed by his first ride on No Looking Back. "She floats around a bit in the straight. Skytrain was in front and he gave me a bump at the 50m which got her going again and she really pushed to the line."

No Looking Back has firmed to $12 for the Magic Millions Guineas with Sizzling the $3.20 favourite ahead of Driefontein ($4).
