Auckland Cup placegetter Nikisha is unlikely to contest the Wellington Cup.
Nikisha pulled up sore after her game Ellerslie run and her connections are wary of putting any more pressure on the mare this campaign.
"It looks as though she has just ricked a joint and the swelling has gone down but we are leaning towards giving her a spell," trainer Katrina Alexander said.
"The Wellington Cup is a big temptation because the Trentham track would probably suit her better than Ellerslie.
"But at this stage it would be a bit of a gamble to get her there and we don't want to risk aggravating any injury.
"She did not win her maiden until this time a year ago and she has taken a huge leap in that time, from a maiden to group one company.
"She doesn't have to prove anything more to us this campaign and we will probably put her out and bring her back in the spring with a Melbourne campaign in mind. She warrants a crack at getting some Australian black type.
"She hasn't had a lot of racing and is just improving and getting stronger all the time and we want to make the most of her next preparation."
Stablemate Count Cristo, who ran seventh in the Auckland Cup, will definitely be spelled.
"He has been up a long time and we will target the New Zealand Cup."
