Racing: Mufhasa will relish hard race

Mufhasa will love the 54.5kg weight relief in today's A$350,000 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield.

What he won't enjoy as much is the upgrade in opposition.

Mufhasa is talented and tough. He also has Damien Oliver to guide him today in a race that is tougher than he's been facing in New Zealand.

The wide 18 gate looks upsetting, but Mufhasa has shown he can handle sitting outside the leader in the parked position that most horses don't like and that looks a natural for him today.

Racing To Win, despite his 58.5kg, looks the danger.

Whobegotyou is the short-priced favourite in the A$400,000 Yalumba Stakes and will probably win. He is a star and more importantly is on the rise.

But he has Nom Du Jeu to contend with after his very sound second in Sydney last week.

The A$1 million Caulfield Guineas is always a jump-start to the spring and this will be a beaut.

Bart Cummings' So You Think is exceptional. Whether the distance is too short today or the outside No 11 gate is an issue, he is the coming young star of the spring.

If he gets beaten today, borrow money off mates to follow him through. He's that good.

The Victoria Derby looks his type of race.

The A$200,000 Herbert Power looks a beaut for the New Zealanders. Young Centaur, Capecover, Figure Of Speech, Mr Tipsy and Hoorang front up strongly for the Kiwis.

Young Centaur is getting fitter, so is Capecover and Mr Tipsy had no chance the way the Kelt Capital was run last weekend.

Today's racing will have a major bearing on what is likely to happen through the Melbourne spring carnival.
