1981-82: Training partnership with Dave and Paul O'Sullivan.
1982: Established his own stables at Matamata.
1985: Trained his first group one winner Imperial Angel (NZ 1000 Guineas).
1989: Won the SAJC Oaks (Our Heavenly Body).
1994: Won the Avondale Cup (Ball Park). Easter Handicap quinella with Ball Park and Lord Tridan. Again trained one-two in the TVNZ Stakes with Lord Tridan and Ball Park. Lord Tridan won Terrace Regency Hotel Stakes and Telegraph Stakes.
1995, 96: Won NZ trainers' premiership.
1996: Won NZ Derby with Great Command.
1997: Won the Otaki-Maori Stakes with It's My Sin, and Bayer Classic with Love De Tor.
1997: Won the Victoria Derby with Second Coming.
1998: Won Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes with Happyanunoit.
2000: Won Melbourne Cup with Brew, finished 3rd with Second Coming.
