KEY POINTS:
Champion Australian filly Miss Finland is rated a "50-50" chance to run in the $2 million Kelt Stakes at Hastings on October 6, says managing part-owner John Messara says.
"She's not a certainty to be there, but it's on the radar," Messara said in a Dominion Post report yesterday. "She is nominated and is a better than minimal chance of getting there."
Miss Finland has won eight group races, including five group ones for stakes in excess of A$4 million ($4.49 million). Her victories include the Golden Slipper and the VRC Oaks.
Messara said the Kelt was a valuable race, the 2040m distance suited, and the weather usually seemed good at that time of year.
He said the float trip from Auckland to Hastings "might be an issue", but the filly's trainer David Hayes would check that out.
Miss Finland would have be at her best form to justify the trip, Messara said. She is scheduled to begin her 4-year-old season in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on September 1.
