KEY POINTS:
NORTHERN TROTTING DERBY, RACE 6, 8.30PM
Still no star to emerge from this very even bunch of young trotters but with the draws and his gate speed Holiday Lover (6) becomes the one to beat. Should lead and looks a good stayer. Sun Lad (13) was game winning in similar field last Friday and will suit the extra 500m, as will King Charlie (8). He galloped when challenging at the 100m mark last Friday but showed great speed. Jazmin Alicia (5) should improve on last Friday's win while Gold Star (7) was huge two starts ago but poor last Friday. Back to her best she can win. Ronnie Coute (3), Earl Of Mot (3) and Shirley Temple (12) have place hopes.
Suggested bet: Holiday Lover (6) each way but include Jazmin Alicia in trifectas and quinellas.
SIRES' STAKES FILLIES, RACE 7, 9.02PM
Best juvenile race of the season so far but Susie Maguire (3) holds all the aces. Drawn to lead and unlikely to be taken on so very hard to catch over 1700m. Exotic Lover (11) was awesome beating some of these last Friday but will need luck to get that sort of trip again. Still, has red hot sprint and can win. Lizzie Maguire (6) has done nothing wrong all campaign and is an each way hope while Itz Cherry Ripe (15) was stunning when second here after sitting parked last start. Looks the blowout hope but draw won't be a lot of fun. Place chances to So Deep (3), Prom Queen (5), Ednalea (7) and Charioteer (12).
Suggested bet: Susie Maguire straight out.
ROWE CUP, RACE 8, 9.34PM
Impossible to go past One Over Kenny (16) after her win last Friday. Her manners are getting better and she will love the 3200m. Should outstay them. Our Sunny Whiz (3) missed the lead-up race last Friday and loves Alexandra Park. She can lead or take a sit so is the logical danger. Pompallier (15) was a fighting second to One Over Kenny last Friday and has won the Dominion before under these conditions. Loves Alex Park, with 17 career victories here. Allegro Agitato (17) showed rare good standing start manners last week and comes in well in the handicaps. Could be over the odds. Play On (6) won an Inter Final here so has a hope if they go hard while Braig (5) was checked early last week and is a smart young trotter up to getting some of this. Romper Stomper (11) ran on well last week and along with Whatsundermykilt (14) has an upset hope.
Suggested bet: One Over Kenny to win with Our Sunny Whiz as cover. Include Braig in trifectas.
MESSENGER, RACE 9, 10.04PM
How do they beat Divisive? The Aussie star was awesome winning the Taylor Mile last week and has gate speed so is drawn to lead or race handy. Will love the 2700m and looks too good. His biggest, and possibly only danger, is Monkey King (3). The speedster has had no luck in the last two months but could end up closer to the pace here and will get his chance. Driver says he could even hold the front if he gets there. Power Of Tara (9) is a class stayer better suited tonight than by the 1700m last week so has to be included in combination bets while Awesome Armbro (8) would be in the top three but for a setback last week which cost him a start in the Taylor Mile. He faces a very big task here fresh-up over 2700m and may be driven cold. All Promises (5) was good on her NZ debut and could sneak a place but then again Classic Line (6) and Ambro The Thug (2) won't mind the 2700m either.
Suggested bet: Divisive could be too short on the tote so take the quinella with Monkey King.
