KEY POINTS:
A decision has been made to send Mettre En Jeu to Sydney for the A$2 million ($2.28 million) AJC Derby on April 7.
Mettre En Jeu has reportedly done extremely well since his second to Redoute's Dancer in the dramatic $700,000 Mercedes Derby at Ellerslie two weeks ago.
"He's put on 10kg since the Derby," says part-owner Paul Connor.
"In fact, he's come through the race so well he's had to be put on the walker twice a day to stop him from getting too fresh."
The Montjeu colt, who heads to Sydney on April 4, has not been the easiest to handle, but Connor says he is starting to mature mentally.
He said he and some of his fellow owners are amused by the odds posted on the Derby by the NSW TAB, which has Redoute's Dancer at $13 and Mettre En Jeu at $51.
"I would have thought they'd be a lot closer in betting," said Connor.
Remarkable filly Miss Finland is the $3.50 Derby favourite ahead of Saturday's winner Tuesday Joy on $4.60.
